Bachelor’s Degree Entry Requirements

Admission to a bachelor’s degree at the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Pisa is subject to:

  • holding a four- or five-year secondary school diploma or another recognised foreign qualification
  • assessment of the adequacy of the foundation knowledge and skills, carried out on the basis of a diploma threshold mark

For the academic year 2023-24, the diploma threshold mark achieved in the school year 2022-2023 is set at 80/100.

For the SY 2021-2022, 2020-2021, 2019-2020 it is set at 75/100.

For all the SY prior to 2019-2020, the threshold mark is instead set at 85/100.

Therefore, for students enrolling in the AY 2023- 24:

  • who have earned a diploma in the school year 2022-2023 with a mark equal to or higher than 80/100 will be enrolled without any additional learning requirements (OFA)
  • who have earned a diploma in the SY 2021-2022, 2020-2021 or 2019-2020 with a mark equal to or higher than 75/100 will be enrolled without any additional learning requirements (OFA)

Any additional learning requirements (OFA) may be remedied in the following two ways:

  • sitting and passing an additional exam called OFA-Mathematics
  • sitting and passing the TOLC-E test (also available as TOLC@Home), with a mark of at least 11.50

Information on means of access and OFA are included in Resolution 13 of 26/01/2023 of the Departmental Council.

Detailed information on the TOLC-E test is available at the bottom of this page.

FURTHER INFORMATION

The main purpose of the test is to measure the students’ logical, mathematical and reading comprehension background in order to allow them to make an informed choice based on the assessment of their interests and aptitudes so that they can successfully tackle their chosen degree course, fill any gaps that may be revealed by the test before the start of classes and minimise the time it takes to obtain their degree and enter the world of work.
Although the test does not preclude enrolment in degree courses, it is binding for taking examinations.
